Dr Ron Hutton
BSc, MSc, PhD
With a scientific background in Chemistry, managed 2 Research Centres in
the UK, one in Chicago. Then, for 10 years, managed a large chemicals factory,
in which was a UK Board Member. In 1991, 5 years before retirement, was
diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Being a scientist, I studied the disease
on the Internet. One Research Group stood out above the others, that of
Drs Sylvia and John Dobbs at Kings College London - having been treated
by them for the last 2 years, am significantly improved. Have more than
halved my Sinemet intake, and taken demanding holidays in the Caribbean
and South Pacific. Contributions to What’s Driving Parkinson’s
lie in keeping a watchful eye on external affairs, literature searches and
collation, and fundraising events. Am pleased to be part of an innovative
team, not afraid to question established dogma. Incredible advances have
been achieved here despite minimal funds. Adequate funds now urgently needed
to launch the next 5 year phase, with the potential to irrevocably change
the way we look at Parkinson’s Disease.
